About Us

How It All Began

Clobber Swap didn't start with a business plan, a website or some grand idea to change fashion. It started with Camille's wardrobe and 32 women in her village. Camille was 45, entering peri-menopause and she'd lost her mojo and the love of refreshing her wardrobe. Just like you, she had lots of gorgeous clothes she wasn't wearing, so she decided to create a private Facebook group and share her clobber with just 32 friends and family. The idea was simple, why keep buying more when she could swap, sell and give like new clothes another life.

Then the world shut down...

Word of mouth did what no marketing budget ever could within weeks the group had swelled from 32 to thousands, women up and down the country swapping, selling and sending each other little notes of encouragement tucked into parcels along with the clothes.

Camille tapped into something big: women who were sick of fast fashion, sick of the guilt that comes with another impulse buy, and who were gagging for a bit of genuine connection during a time when everyone needed it most.

Today, Clobber Swap is a thriving community of women, proof that the best ideas usually start with someone just trying to sort their own life out.

Our Journey as a Clobber Sisterhood

Since 2020, the sisterhood has grown from a handful of local swappers into a wonderful community, racking up over 100 five-star reviews along the way, not bad for something that started as a solution to one woman’s overstuffed and neglected wardrobe.

But Clobber Swap was never going to stay online only…

We’ve styled full-blown fashion shows and swap events too, including The LOVE Event: A proper night of glitz, guest speakers and good causes, raising awareness and funds for CoppaFeel and their work on breast cancer awareness. Because looking good and doing good were never meant to be separate things.

Six years...

Thousands of members and a fair few sold-out events later, it felt like time to give the sisterhood something more permanent than a Facebook feed that buries your favourite dress under someone’s holiday photos: a dedicated Clobber Swap website.

Our new home means everyone gets her own online wardrobe boutique where she can swap, buy and sell pre-loved fashion in a couple of taps. It sits alongside our much-loved Facebook community rather than replacing it, keeping all the social connection that made Clobber Swap what it is, but finally giving it the tools to match.

We have lots of members who’ve joined for the sustainability angle and have since stayed for the community of like-minded women.

Supporting other Clobber Sisters who are navigating tough times, pulling together as a group to support each other. That’s the bit that doesn’t fit neatly into a “swap, buy, sell” strapline, but it’s exactly why so many of our sisters stay.
